Somerset House
National Gallery National Gallery. London

The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court is at the heart of Somerset House - a dignified courtyard with a mischievous streak. With an array of jets that dance in an orchestrated sequence, and added colour at night, they are a highlight of the season and on a warm spring day a refreshing surprise for children, commuters passing through and visitors to the galleries.

In its six years, Summer Series at Somerset House has featured spectacular gigs by Goldfrapp, PJ Harvey, Bloc Party, Orbital, Jose Gonzalez and Lambchop.

Every August, Film4 Summer Screen transforms the courtyard into a full-scale open-air cinema with state-of-the-art giant screen, 35mm projection and surround-sound.

Somerset House’s winter ice rink has become an icon for London. Whether you're an able skater or an absolute beginner Somerset House Ice Rink is London's essential winter experience.
